Frequently Asked Questions for Laser Hair Removal
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
Laser hair removal is permanent hair reduction only, a maintenance program is necessary as new hairs will always grow
Are there any risks?
There are minimal side effects, you may experience mild redness and follicular swelling.
Will it hurt?
It feels like a mild pin prick and only stings where there is active hair in the hair follicle.
Will It Work on My Skin Type and Hair Color?
Laser hair removal will work on most skin types, ranging form very light skin to very dark skin.
Blonde, grey and red hair are difficult to treat, however, each individual is different and will have different results
What should I do to prepare for my treatment?
If you are sunburned, we cannot go ahead with your treatment. You will need to wait at least two weeks before proceeding. Additionally, we cannot treat you if you are wearing a fake tan. You will have to exfoliate the fake tan off before you come in for your treatment, or simply reschedule.
Make sure the area has been shaved as close to the skin as possible within 12 hours of the appointment
How long does one treatment take?
You will be surprised at how quickly your treatment will take! Each pulse from the laser takes only a fraction of a second, treating many hairs simultaneously. A small area, such as the upper lip, can be treated within a minute. Larger areas such as the back or legs will naturally take longer.
Do I have to take any particular care after my treatment?
Post-treatment, your skin may look or feel as if it’s sunburned. This should last no longer than 24-48 hours and can be easily treated with cool compresses or cream (our laser technician will advise you post-treatment). You should be fine to wear make-up the following day, unless advised otherwise.
